Event description

Description

The Case for Culture (C4C) was launched by the North East Culture Partnership in 2015, after detailed consultation with a range of individuals, organisations, businesses and key stakeholders in the arts and heritage sectors of the North East.

Now, for the first time since the launch, we invite you to attend the C4C Stakeholder Forum at which we will update you on the progress against the five aspirations outlined in the C4C and give everyone an opportunity to input into the future developments in a number of working groups and discussions throughout the day. It is hoped that this will be the first in what will be an annual event, bringing together the region to help shape its future.

09:30 – 10:00 Registration

10:00 – 11.00 Welcome from North East Culture Partnership Chairs, update on achievements to date

This is an important opportunity to help us shape the priorities and delivery of the region’s strategy for arts and heritage. The five workshops reflect the aspirations in the Case for Culture. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to take part in two discussion groups on the day; you can learn more about these groups below to help you decide which two you want to sign-up to. After registration, you will receive a short survey whereby you can specify your preferences for the discussion groups you woud like to attend.

Discussion Groups

Participation: This will look at ways the region can help to extend the reach and impact of arts and heritage, particularly amongst the adult population, widening the benefits that participation brings.

Children and Young People: The participation and engagement of children and young people in the region is one of the aspirations of all in the sector; this workshop looks at the ways this can be improved and how we can collectively have a greater impact.

Economic impact: Culture has an enormous impact on the economy of the North East in many ways. This workshop is looking for in-put in to how this impact can be strengthened and broadened.

Developing talent: The strategy identifies the development of local cultural talent and skills and also the retention of this talent in the region as of great importance. Additionally, creating routes through which this talent can progress is also critical.

A distinctive region: The North East has much to offer that is unique and innovative, and nurturing and celebrating this needs to be part of the strategy as it is delivered. Whether this is through our many festivals, our bids for City of Culture or our work for the Great Exhibition of the North, the workshop will look to identify our priorities as a region for the future.
