Speakers

Stephen Godfrey Endodontic Specialist, BChD, MSc

Practice Owner

GDC No. 52893

Stephen qualified from the University of Leeds in 1979. He gained his Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry at the renowned Eastman Dental Institute in London in 1982 and he has full registration as a Specialist Endodontist with the General Dental Council.

Stephen has always been enthusiastic towards dental education and has two roles in his professional life as the principle clinician at Stephen Godfrey Dental Care and as an educator. Until recently he was a Senior Clinical Teacher at the University of Sheffield School of Dentistry, responsible for content and delivery of the undergraduate endodontic curriculum delivering lectures, tutorials and clinical skills practical teaching to the dental students. He retired from this post in the summer of 2014 to ‘simplify’ his life and concentrate on his clinical work.

Whilst at the university Stephen was instrumental in setting up a post graduate ‘Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry’ programme in Endodontics. This degree is a 'first' in the UK and no other dental school/University offers such a programme. A Doctorate is the highest degree a University can confer. It helps maintain Sheffield as a major influence in university higher education.

The contemporary nature of Stephen’s teaching reflects many years of clinical knowledge and depth of experience in patient care.

Stephen established Stephen Godfrey Dental Care in 1985 and now limits his treatments to diagnosis of facial pain, root canal therapy and restoration of teeth. In the past twelve months we have accepted referrals from 180 dental practices in the region and carried out 650 endodontic treatments.

Stephen is a past-President of the British Endodontic Society
