Creating Queer Learning Programming: Our first speaker is Claire Mead. Claire will speaking about her work on Anne Lister Online: Digital engagement around historical lesbians . Exploring the question "How can we create new engaging digital content linked to lesbian historical figures within museums and heritage? " Claire will speak about her digital engagement work around LGBTQI legacies related to Anne Lister, in collaboration with Calderdale Museums (Shibden Hall and Bankfield Museum) and beyond.
Delivering Queer Learning Programming: Our second speaker is Matthew Exley who will sharing work on programming for schools. In this talk Matt Exley outlines his experiences in developing a formal education session at the Museum of Liverpool exploring LGBTQ+ identities and the power of stimulating open, honest, and frank conversations about what it is like and has been like to be an LGBTQ+ person in Britain.
Evaluating Queer Learning Programming: Our third speakers are Tali Krikler and Caroline Marcus who will be sharing their work as evaluation consultants to the Royal Opera House's Family Festival Programme focusing on Family Pride.
This will be a panel event. Each speaker will present their work and there will be a facilitated Q+A at the end hosted by Fran Jeens.
Meet the Speakers
Claire Mead is a freelance arts & heritage curator and educator working with museums and heritage to make their programming and collections more inclusive. She shares her research around women’s histories and LGBTQI heritage via podcasting, video and social media. Find Claire on Social Media - @carmineclaire
Matthew Exley has worked at the Museum of Liverpool since it opened in 2011. In that time he has worked in numerous teams, gaining insight in to curatorial practice and learning management. He is a trustee of the social history curators group and has recently taken a new role looking at adult equalities-driven programmes across National Museums Liverpool. Tali Krikler is an experienced learning producer, project manager and evaluator. She is the former Head of Learning at the Jewish Museum London and a qualified primary teacher specialising in Early Years learning. Caroline Marcus is a producer, programmer, and change maker in the cultural sector. She has a proven track record in strategic management with 25 years’ experience as an independent museum consultant and qualified primary school teacher. Caroline manages a diverse portfolio of museum and gallery learning, access and engagement projects through her consultancy Caroline Marcus Associates.
