Description

We are searching for two actresses to rehearse and perform in a scene from the play ‘Fort Huachuca’ at the Next Up Talent Showcase at the National Theatre on November 3rd 2017. ‘Fort Hauchuca’, written by Ailema De Sousa, is based on WW2 African American army nurses stationed in Arizona on an army base camp before they get shipped overseas.

We are looking for London based actresses aged between 19-30 years old.We are ideally looking for black actresses (Black African, Black Caribbean, Black American, Afro-Latina or Mixed Raced).

CHARACTER 1- MAYVEE ASHMORE

Mayvee is an army nurse from St Louis, Missouri (Southern accent is required).

CHARACTER 2- MARJORIE BISHOP

Marjorie is an army nurse from Harlem, New York (Preferably New York and Southern accent, both not required, but need to be familiar with at least one of these).

CHARACTER 3- SINGER

Singing only role. You will have to sing the first verse of ‘Stormy Weather’, Ella Fitzgerald, Ethel Waters or Lena Horne version.

CHARACTER 4- COLONEL HARDY

Colonel Hardy is a post commander in charge of the whole of Fort. Huachuca. This role is for a while male actor aged 30s-late 40s. American accent (Tennessee) required.

This is a non-paid role

When you have booked a ticket, we will email you with a ten minute time slot. Please arrive at least five minutes before your audition time and be prepared for a cold reading and a small interview. You will be given your scene once you arrive. Please also bring a copy of your Headshot and Spotlight/CV.
