Event description

Description

Join us for a relaxing Lavender Tour in the Kent countryside

Go behind the scenes of the Castle Farm Lavender fields and learn the background to our spectacular purple view.

Learn all about why we grow Lavender, what it is used for and how we harvest and extract the precious Oil. You will be led by your expert Castle Farm guide out into the fields and then to the oil distillery. Also you will learn about what we do on Castle Farm throughout the year.

Each weekday Lavender Tour finishes with a chilled glass of Castle Farm Apple Juice, and a Lavender shortbread biscuit back at The Hop Shop.

Continue if you wish to book for a WEEKDAY Lavender Tour.

If you are looking to attend on a Saturday or Sunday in Lavender Season, WEEKEND Lavender Tours are book on arrival at the farm - we run regular Lavender Tours throughout Saturdays & Sundays (approx. 10.30am, 12noon, 2pm and 3.30pm). Please note: refreshments are not provided on weekend tours, but can be purchased separately.

Additional Lavender Tour information:

  • Each tour takes approximately 1 hour 15 mins.
  • We always allow time on each Lavender Tour, for people to take a photo in the Lavender fields.
  • There is a small amount of walking from the shop out to the fields, through the farmyard to the distillery and back to the shop (about 1/2 a mile in total, and some seating is provided at the stopping points).
  • Tours go on flat but sometimes uneven ground and there is not usually a problem taking wheelchairs or buggies along the short grass track at the edge of the lavender fields. You will be walking on grass, so please take care. There is a short slope to into the fields, but the ground is mostly level.
  • Children are welcome – although the Tours are not aimed specifically at children, there is always plenty of interesting information for Lavender lovers of all ages (plus they can help us look for Rosemary Beetles in the rows!)
  • Please note that dogs are not permitted on the tours.

FAQs

Is there parking available at the farm?

Absolutely! Please park by The Hop Shop, or in the allocated field parking areas. Parking at the farm is only for use by people visiting the shop or taking part in one of our events. Please do not leave your car and go for a walk as we have limited parking at peak times. If you wish to enjoy more of the local area, there is a public car park just down the road at the Lullingstone Visitor Centre. £2 parking charge may apply to park at Castle Farm, during our busiest times.

For public transport details, please see the Visit Us section of our website.

What if it rains?

We have never cancelled a tour due to bad weather! If it looks like it might rain then please bring an umbrella. In fact, the lavender smells its most aromatic when it’s raining..! We also have gazebo cover in the fields, to give shade in the sun, or shelter in the rain!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You are welcome to show the ticket on your phone, but if you cannot do this then please bring a print out.

Can I bring my dog?

Unforunately dogs are not permitted on Lavender Tours, this is because we walk through areas of there farm where livestock are present.

How do I book a weekend tour?

Weekend Lavender Tours are only bookable on the day, on arrival at the farm - we run regular Lavender Tours throughout Saturdays and Sundays during Lavender Season (approx. 10.30am, 12noon, 2pm and 3.30pm). For more information on what happens on Castle Farm during Lavender Season, click here.

Do I have to book tickets in advance?

Our tours are extremely popular so we always recommend to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Online bookings will close 2 hours before each tour. If a tour has not sold out, you will be able to book on arrival once online bookings have closed.

Can I book a private tour of the lavender?

Absolutely! Please contact us on info@hopshop.co.uk and we will do our best to help. Minimum charges apply.

Can I change the date or time of my booking?

If you want to change the date or time of your tour, you will need to request a refund for the initial booking and then book and pay for the tour you wish to come on instead. All of this can be done via Eventbrite, there is no need to contact us directly. Please see below for our refund policy.

What's the refund policy?

If you wish to cancel your booking, we allow refunds up to 24 hours before event. Unfortunately if you cancel after this we cannot provide you with a refund. We will respond to your refund request within 2 working days and refunds can take up to 5 working days to reach your account from this time. Please make your request via Eventbrite.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Feel free to pop us an email at info@hopshop.co.uk with any questions or visit hopshop.co.uk.
