Event Details

#CASWalkabout, Wednesday 31st Jan 2018 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm(or later), Science Museum, London

This event page enables a group of adults with a shared interest in Computing education (5-18 years) to meet together at a public event. Please note registration is not required to access the Science Museum

By joining us, you will gain inspiration, ideas and resources for activities to use with your classes or community on a theme chosen by the Science Museum and be able to meet Computing educators.

This month's theme: Food and Drink.    Programme and guide: [download from here]

Our #CASWalkabout Programme:

  • 6.45-7.15pm Meet & Greet - We've recently changed this. We will meet in the Energy Cafe (Level 0, next to the shop) where we'll share news of events, projects, resources etc. to support #Computing in school and #DigitalMaking. It'll give a chance for some to grab a drink or byte to eat. If you have something cool to share, please bring it with you - but make sure it will pass the security checks at the entrance!
  • 7.15-9.00pm Explore - We'll explore the different talks, activities and demonstrations throughout the evening and recommend the best to the others. Look at the Science Museum programme for more information.
  • 9pm Finish - Although the Science Museum event runs until 10pm, we usually leave around 9pm or earlier as it's a school day next day.

Worth noting: This is an 18+ only event and is an independently organised by CAS Master Teacher and Hub Leader Alan O'Donohoe Our meeting is neither organised nor endorsed by the Science Museum, London. If you arrive before the doors open at 6.45pm, you will need to join the long queue outside on Exhibition Road. By registering here a group of people with an interest in Computing education can meet up inside and share relevant ideas and resources. There are links here to photos from previous events to give you an idea of what to expect:

Background: On the last Wednesday of every month (except December), the Science Museum London closes at 6pm and then re-opens at 6.45pm (until 10:00pm) for "Lates" an evening packed full of talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Some months there is a 'Teacher Zone' Lates event as well, but separate registration is required and tickets always sell out quickly.

Explore: There is a packed programme of talks, activities and demonstrations throughout the evening (all organised by the Science Museum). Just a few days before the event you can download the programme from the Lates page. By meeting up together inside, we can explore the most relevant activities together and share the best bits among our group throughout the evening.

Cancellations: We really don't mind if you sign up, and then can't attend. If you don't cancel you'll be invited to  future events.
