Get ready to code your very own cat-astrophe! In this workshop, you’ll create your very own Splat-A-Cat game, learning some programming as you play. Use your imagination and problem-solving skills to bring your game to life.
Each session takes 1.5 hours. Sign up for one of three sessions on Thursday 30th October:
- 10:00-11:30 (ages 7-12)
- 12:00-13:30 (ages 7-17)
- 14:00 - 15:30 (ages 13-17)
What you’ll do
Join other future game designers to:
- Make your very own splat game using cats
- Write some Python code using Pygame
- Add sound effects and cat pictures to make your game exciting
- Play, learn and have fun!
Who’s this for?
Our 10am session is open to 7-12 year olds
Our 12pm session is open to 7-17 year olds
Our 2pm session is open to 13-17 year olds
What do you need to bring?
All equipment is provided. All you need to bring is a sparkling can-do attitude!
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Every under 12 booking automatically grants entry to an accompanying adult. Due to venue size, we ask that you don't bring more grown-ups so that everyone has plenty of room to create!
Cost
This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.

About the facilitator
This workshop is led by Olly Arif, who loves creating silly games to learn new things. His experience in teaching people combines with his fascination and love for Python to create a fun and educational experience for all!
