Event description
Actor David Benson introduces us to those involved in the Cato Street Conspiracy.

About this Event

'Horrid plot to assassinate the government!'

Enraged by the Peterloo Massacre, a band of hungry men planned revenge: to behead the entire cabinet of Lord Liverpool and proclaim a new government of the people. Drawing on the British Library’s and other archives – including a long-forgotten radical song (‘Oh, Give Me Death or Liberty!’) as sung from the gallows by one of the plotters - award-winning solo actor David Benson marks the two hundredth anniversary of this little-known event in British history. David’s performance was described by the British Theatre Guide as ‘An entertaining rampage through history, brought to life with humour and a provocative reflection on our contemporary political crises".

The performance, will be followed by a glass of wine and a chance to ask David questions.

Refunds will only be given if places are cancelled more than 48hours prior to an event (minus the booking fee) or if an event is cancelled by GHL.
