About this event

Community • Heritage

Join artist-in-residence Christine Chua for this workshop as we delve into the candle-lit world of our cave-dwelling ancestors. Building on our innate impulse to be creative, participants will be briefly introduced to the rich and wonderful tapestry of Palaeolithic Art.

We will be examining its various characteristics such as symbols, patterns and motifs. Together, we will explore ways of reproducing cave imagery through mark-making and ceremonial hand paintings. During the workshop, participants will also learn how to prepare paint out of locally-sourced pigments including charcoal, chalk, and ochres. At the end of the workshop, participants will work together to collaborate on a huge cave-inspired painting.
