Description

UPDATE: Due to the postponement of the CBA Wales conference to Autumn 2018 we are currenlty looking for an alternative location for our Wales workshop. We hope to hold the workshop on the same weekend but will look for a venue in a more accessible location to make it easier for people to take part in the event. We will update this page with confirmation of the revised date, time and location as soon as possible.

Join the Council for British Archaeology’s Home Front Legacy team working with Living Legacies for a community workshop and learn how to research, record and get funding for your own First World War project.

Discover how to record First World War sites in the UK

During the workshop you will learn how to get started recording the legacy of the Home Front in your local area. We will guide you through using the Council for British Archaeology's Home Front Legacy recording app which will enable you to find out about existing sites and add the information you discover to a UK wide map of sites. You’ll see just how easy it is to create new knowledge about the legacy of the First World War.

Access resources for young people

We’ll share Home Front Legacy’s resources to help young people find out more and help us discover forgotten sites of the First World War. The wide range of activities, lesson plans and recording guides are designed to make it easy for individuals, families and youth groups to get involved.

Develop your own community project

There will also be plenty of inspiration and advice to help you develop your own community project. Find out about funding opportunities available through the Heritage Lottery Fund and how to apply, and hear from some of the fantastic First World War projects that have already received help and support from Living Legacies.

Further information

Travel bursaries of £50 are available for community and volunteer groups or individuals. If more than one person is attending from a group, a maximum of £50 may be claimed by the group. To find out more please contact homefrontlegacy@archaeologyuk.org.
