Event description

Description

Thursday 15th February - CBSO Grieg’s Piano Concerto
2:15pm
Symphony Hall, Birmingham

FEATURING
Michael Seal – Conductor Freddy Kempf – Piano

PROGRAMME Bax Overture to a Picaresque Comedy, 9′

Grieg Piano Concerto, 30′ Elgar Symphony No. 1, 52′

When Elgar’s First Symphony was premiered in 1908, the audience jumped to its feet and cheered. 110 years on, it still sets the pulse racing: a searingly honest emotional drama that begins with maybe the greatest tune Elgar ever wrote.

Michael Seal sets things buzzing with Bax’s very British comedy overture, and Freddy Kempf plays all the notes in rather more than just the right order, in Grieg’s ever-popular Piano Concerto.

Timings: Leave Leominster 9:30am., Hereford at 9:50am., Ross on Wye at 10:30am. Depart Birmingham at 4:30pm and travel back to Ross at 6:00pm, Hereford at 6:30pm and then Leominster at 7:00pm.

Costs: Including travel costs and seats in the Stalls £52.00 or Choir £41.00
