Our applicant day will give you a deeper insight into your chosen programme; with opportunities to have a bit of fun, speak to current students and staff.
This event runs on the same day as our usual open event, so if you would like to join in on any of the open day activities, you are more than welcome.
Applicant Day Schedule
12pm - 12:30pm:
Report to Main Reception. Our student ambassadors will greet you and direct you towards refreshments in our Art Café
12:30pm - 12:45pm:
Welcome Talk and overview of the day
12:45pm - 1:00pm:
Brief programme introductions
1:00pm - 2:00pm
Enjoy lunch in our Art Café with a chance to speak to other applicants, students and staff
2:00pm - 3:00pm
Programme Area Session. A chance to do something interactive and learn more about your chosen programme
3:00pm - 7pm
Usual Open Day commences. Here you will have an opportunity to ask questions about your application, student finance, accommodation and other support areas.
Overview of Programme Area Sessions
BA (Hons) Textiles & Surface Design / BA (Hons) Contemporary Textile Products
A portfolio presentation session/Q&A – with a textiles portfolio presentation and current students talking through their own portfolios and about their experiences.
BA (Hons) Body Contour Fashion
An introduction into the specialist machinery used in Body Contour Fashion. We will show you how to use machinery to make a camisole and briefs.
BA (Hons) Commercial Photography
The dynamic portrait – you will be shown how to set up a location lighting kit and off camera flash working with a professional photographer you will produce a dynamic portrait
BA (Hons) Creative Photographic Practice
Alternative photography – working in the studio you will be shown how to set up a large format camera and to make a portrait using alternative approaches. If you like film and darkrooms then this is for you and you get to take them home!
BA (Hons) Costume Interpretation with Design
Prepare yourself for study with an in-depth look at the specialist equipment required for the costume industry. Applicants will also meet current students and look at their current projects.
BA (Hons) Production Design for Stage & Screen
A chance for applicants to meet students and recent graduates who will discuss and show their work and talk about their experiences on the programme in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
BA (Hons) Fine Art
Prepare yourself for study with an in-depth look at the specialist equipment required for Fine Art. Applicants will also meet current students and look at their current projects.
BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application
A chance for applicants to meet students, staff and recent graduates who will discuss and show their work and talk about their experiences on the programme in a relaxed and informal atmosphere
BA (Hons) Graphic Design & Communication / BA (Hons) Design for Digital Industries
Students and staff will demonstrate the design process. We will use examples of past projects from students and industry to explain how graphic design develops from the initial brief to finished work.
BA (Hons) Creative Film & Moving Image Production
Applicants will be given a demonstration of the equipment and have the chance to speak to the current students and staff.
