Means and Merits Assessments

There isn’t a one size fits all means or merits assessment, therefore this module contains some of the more complex themes within the assessments. Passported capital means assessments along with income and deductions-based means assessments are explored, along with a common merits assessment.

The session also includes hints and tips along with ways to avoid common pitfalls. The module also covers some of the theory behind the online assessments and how they replace nearly all of the means and merits forms.

We are a delivery organisation which commissions and procures legal aid services from providers (solicitors, barristers and the not-for-profit sector).

Our priorities are to: improve casework to reduce cost, enhance control and give better customer service, improve organisational capability to meet the challenges ahead (including developing and engaging our people), build and maintain strong partnerships to secure quality provision and contribute fully to wider justice and Government aims.
