Following a successful launch in December, this event will bring you the latest in all things essential for First 5 GPs and GP trainees. And a short training session with Dr Stuart Hutchinson, Care of the Elderly Consultant at New Cross Hospital.
Highlights
Can I stop this drug?
Dr Hutchinson has worked in Birmingham and The Black Country for a number of years. As well as ward work, he does a lot of clinical activities in the community, including a de-prescribing project in Wolverhampton Nursing Homes. This area of his work is undertaken with clinical pharmacists and has saved the CCG incredible amounts of money over the last 2 years. He will educate us on his thinking when it comes to medication reviews in the elderly discuss and the suggestions he puts forward to GPs to aid their prescribing in this group.
The Art of Persuasion
Have you had a great idea but then struggled to take it further? Is there something you want to change in your practice, but people aren't on board? In this session you will be introduced to the 'art of persuasion' and learn tools to use in your everyday role to help gain support for your ideas. David Blackadder-Weinstein, the facilitator for this session, trained as a journalist producing news for Bloomberg, worked in the City and then saw the light and moved to the West Midlands and is now a strong proponent of the Midlands, his current role being Head of Communications for Midlands Connect.
It's going to be another great event. Tickets are limited, so don't delay your registration.
Please arrive at 9.30am for registration and coffee. There is no dress code, and lunch will be provided. Why not bring your family along ot have a look around the museum and then join us for lunch?
