We are writing to ask you to an invitation only event with the Pensions Minister, Torsten Bell MP. It will discuss Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) pensions.
The aim of the meeting is two fold. First to mark the creation of our new Community Interest Company (CIC), the CDC Forum. The Forum has been operation for some years under the banner of the Royal Society for Arts (RSA). In common with the RSA’s strategy to incubate new initiatives, it is now transferring to a CIC established to promote better, income-for-life pensions in the UK. The CIC will give greater independence and vigour to our work.
The second aim is to hear from the Minister of the government’s plans to make available to employers, different forms of CDC, and hence allow them to improve the adequacy of UK pensions. Legislation has already been passed for single employers to introduce CDC pensions. This has been adopted by the Royal Mail for its 130,000 employees. The government has also indicated its desire to allow multi-employer CDC, and “decumulation CDC”, allowing DC savings to be converted into a pension. The minster is keen to discuss his plans and to hear how the government can work in partnership with stakeholders, to allow them to offer the best possible pensions to British workers. The event will include a keynote address from the minster, and time for audience discussion, questions and answers.
