About this Event

Future Skills Requirements to enable effective asset and project performance

To kick off our engagement with the Construction Innovation Hub we will be using our Members Forum on 18 February as an opportunity for our members to provide insight and help shape the future skills agenda that is emerging from the Hub.

What are the future skills needed to unlock better performance? Given what the literature is saying about construction skills, what do YOU need?

In this half-day workshop, we will identify and share skills challenges for the future of construction, specifically around asset and project performance. We will build on existing work in this arena, prioritise and refine skills needs based on your context. We will develop training one-liners, use cases and requirements for your future training needs. The skills themes we will focus on are:

• Quality: how can we ensure quality construction products and that projects are executed consistently across the full lifecycle?

• Whole-life Value: how can projects and assets move beyond economics and serve all pillars of sustainability?

• Product Validation: how will components and assemblies be tested, measured and standardised in the MMC world?

Our national members forum kicks off a programme of activities that will be happening across our regional network. The Construction Innovation Hub, in collaboration with Constructing Excellence will collate the workshop findings and use these to inform the develop of some original free, open-source training content. The aim is that you will be able to use these materials to deliver unique training solutions in your organisations.

Please join us and bring along the right people from your organisations to help ensure the relevance and adoptability of the Construction Innovation Hub outputs.

About the Hub

The Construction Innovation Hub was launched in November 2018 and brings together world-class expertise from the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), BRE (Building Research Establishment) and the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) to transform the UK construction industry. With £72 million from UK Research and Innovation’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, the Hub aims to change the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, manufactured, integrated and connected within our built environment. In November 2019 Constructing Excellence became a delivery partner of the Hub with a specific focus on adoption.
