Description

CeASR ECRN Blog Writing Retreat

The main purpose of this session is to give you some time and space to have a go at writing a blog post and to get some feedback from peers.

We will start with some discussion about what makes a good blog post, writing for different audiences and the different kinds of topics which people address. This will be followed by some time to work on writing a post yourself and opportunities to share feedback and comments.

This session will be a good opportunity for people who do not have experience of writing for blogs and would like to give it a go in a safe environment. For those who already write blog posts it could be useful to take some time out to write something they have not yet got round to doing and to share their experience with others.

Please come with an idea for a post you might want to write. This could be:

  • A summary/reflection on a teaching session
  • A summary/discussion of an article or chapter you have written or are working on
  • A discussion of a social/public/policy issue through the lens of an academic approach/theory/empirical insight
  • A discussion of internal issue of relevance to your discipline (eg. a theoretical, methodological or ethical debate)
  • A critique of a piece of popular culture through the lens of your discipline
  • A personal account of an experience of teaching, research or career

You will need to bring a laptop, tablet, notepad (if your writing is legible!) or some other writing implements with you.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Please contact Chris Till c.till@leedsbeckett for more information.
