The CeASR ECRN is launching a new “Journal Club”. This will be an opportunity to get together as a group to discuss an article or chapter nominated by a member for each session which will be read in advance. This could be an already published article that the nominee thinks would make for a good cross-disciplinary discussion or a draft of a paper they have been working on so they can get feedback. This would be entirely voluntary and only if people felt comfortable with it.
This should be a good opportunity to get encouragement with writing in a safe and friendly environment. It might also help participants to think through their critique of existing work by discussing it with others and getting different disciplinary perspectives on it.
Whether reading existing published work by other authors or work in progress it could help members to get to know more about what are each other’s interests (probably in different disciplines) and perhaps spark off ideas or stimulate collaborations.
The main purpose of the club is to stimulate discussion and help to develop a research culture.
The event is open to Leeds Beckett University staff who consider themselves to be an early career researcher and is connected with CeASR (or would like to be).
Refreshments will be provided.
