CEI Nature Network Celebration
Event Information
Description
The East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative (CEI) invites you to join a celebration of the success of the Nature Network (EcoCo LIFE) project as it comes to completion.
Since 2013, Nature Network has delivered an impressive 450 hectares of peatland habitat enhancement in the East Ayrshire Coalfields. The benefits of healthy peatlands are plentiful; they are a haven for wildlife, provide clean drinking water, help to prevent flooding and store carbon which would otherwise contribute to greenhouse gases and climate change.
Nature Network has engaged with communities across the Coalfields to inspire an appreciation of local landscapes and wildlife. Peatland enhancement has been monitored with the help of a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers who have contributed to habitat and species surveys and practical tasks in over 1oo events. Through our awareness and education programmes we've promoted the importance of peatlands to the public and introduced hundreds of young people to peat bogs in their local area to promote stewardship of the coalfield environment.
The Nature Network Celebration will showcase the successes of the project and shine a light on what’s next for the East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative.
Refreshments will be provided.
Please note: Spaces are limited so please let us know if you can no longer attend so we can reallocate your ticket.
The CEI’s work is supported by Scottish Natural Heritage, East Ayrshire Council, and with the contribution of the LIFE+ financial instrument of the European Community.
East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative is a registered charity in Scotland, no: SC037177.
