We are delighted to announce that the University of Bedfordshire has been awarded a Bronze Award in the Race Equality Charter (REC) – a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to becoming an anti-racist university.
To mark this achievement, we warmly invite you to our REC Celebration:
· Tuesday 21 October 2025
· 16:30 – 17:30
· PM06, Postgraduate Centre, Luton Campus
This event will highlight the work that has taken place over the past three years to understand and address institutional barriers faced by our students and staff from minority ethnic backgrounds. We will also share the key messages from our new five-year Action Plan, setting out how we can all contribute to building a more inclusive university community.
The celebration coincides with Black History Month and will be followed by a special guest lecture from Roland Butcher, the first Black cricketer to represent the England national team:
· ‘Breaking Barriers: Barbados to England… and Back’
· Registration from 17:30 (Postgraduate Centre ground floor)
· Sponsored by the University’s Race Equality Network (REN).
