About this event
To commemorate 200 years of the modern railway, we are running a series of station tours to celebrate rail’s remarkable past, its role today and its importance for a sustainable future. This immersive walking tour of London Bridge’s historic station and the surrounding areas will be led by Network Rail and celebrated historian and author Rachel Kolksy.
Underneath the Arches: London Bridge
Built as part of London’s first railway line, London Bridge has recently undergone a dramatic transformation from an unloved terminus in a grimy neighbourhood to a bright spacious station leading to the City, the Thames and trendy Borough and Bermondsey. Explore the old and the new ranging from stunning Victorian brickwork alongside breathtaking contemporary engineering now providing a unifying concourse for the first time in the station's history.
We are committed to making our station tours as inclusive and accessible as possible.
Below are key details about the accessibility features available at the stations we'll be visiting:
- Wheelchair Accessibility: All three stations (Waterloo, Victoria, and London Bridge) are wheelchair accessible, with step-free access to platforms and lifts where necessary.
- Lifts and Ramps: Lifts are available for access between platforms and main station areas, and there are ramps for those with limited mobility.
- Quiet Vox for Hearing: To ensure that the tour is accessible to all, we will have Quiet Vox devices available for all tour attendees, these devices amplify the tour guide's voice.
