Meteor spotting at the Field of Hope – Monday, August 18th, 2025 at 22:00

Join us at the Skyhide Stargazing Pavilion, Tomintoul, as we celebrate the return of darker skies and the Perseid Meteor Shower. Bring along your blankets, warm flasks, snacks, and some good company for a magical night under the stars with local astronomer Sam and Tomintoul & Glenlivet Development Trust staff as your guide.

We’ll meet at 10:00 PM at the Tomintoul Discovery Centre, then walk together—with red torches—down to the Dark Sky Discovery Site and Skyhide. Parking is available in the village square.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move indoors to the Discovery Centre for an engaging presentation and a chance to explore the Dark Skies exhibition.

We’ll be in touch with all participants ahead of time with a weather update and final details.

Donations are gratefully received via Eventbrite or in person on the night (cash welcome). All proceeds support the work of the Cairngorms Tomintoul & Glenlivet Dark Sky Park.

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are very welcome to join the stargazing too!
