Seekers Create CIC would love to invite you to celebrate ‘World Braille Day’ and be the first to experience the UKs first ever Doodle Braille Rail art installation and exhibition at the top of the Spinnaker Tower!

Join us on January 4th 2023, 5:30pm - 7:30pm to celebrate the birth of Braille’s inventor, Louis Braille. Braille’s gift to the world has brightened the lives of millions of people around the world who are blind or visually impaired, and they benefit from his work every day.

Seekers are delighted to be working in partnership with the Spinnaker Tower and acknowledge that those with visual impairments deserve the same standard of human rights as everyone else.

Clarke Reynolds AKA ‘The Blind Braille Artist’ is a key part of Seekers senior leadership team and joins founding director Clair Martin and Steve Baker to bring you exclusive access to this ground breaking event.

Seekers ran a series of workshops with the Spinnaker team and two local schools. The first workshop was to get the team thinking creatively about what they could see from the viewing deck in the Spinnaker Tower and to doodle their images onto a group mural. We focused on 4 windows of opportunity. Windows of the past, present, future and sustainability.

The doodles were transformed into a poem for each window then taken into the schools and used as inspiration for our classroom collective murals.

The aim of this project is to raise awareness of visual impairment and to enhance the experience of visually impaired visitors to the Spinnaker Tower, beyond the necessity of everyday living, which is often limited to braille on things like packaging or signs. Visitors who are blind are entitled to gain the same amount of pleasure from their surroundings as those who have full sight.
