About this Event

Discussion on Women’s Suffrage with Wera Hobhouse, MP

1919 saw the first General Election for Germany’s Weimar Republic. It was also the first time that women in Germany were able to vote. In the UK, it was not until 1928 that women were able to vote on the same terms as men.

This year, the British-German Association celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage in Germany. Leading Liberal Democrat MP Wera Hobhouse, herself born in Germany, will discuss her own personal experience of women's equal opportunities and the consequences women’s suffrage has had with the successes and the challenges that still lie ahead.

The event will take place in German House, 34 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8QB on Wednesday 4 September at 19.00 and will be followed by a Q&A.

Tickets: Tickets for members and members' guests reserved online through the Membership Login will be free of charge.

Tickets for non-members will be £20 per person and will only be available through Eventbrite.
