Event description

Description

Ventnor Arts Club is delighted to welcome freelance photographer Gary Wallis of Wallis Pictures to present a talk about his professional association with fashion designer Alexander McQueen. He will also talk about his book, which illustrates fascinating archive material shot backstage during the early shows.

Gary’s work focuses on fashion and portraiture which has been featured in many international publications and other media. He graduated from Central Saint Martin’s art college with a degree in graphic design, specialising in photography. Gary maintains his association there by being a part-time subject leader in photography for the Visual Communication Program.

Following Gary’s talk and an accompanying short piece of film, we will screen the documentary film McQueen, which is a personal look at the designer’s extraordinary life, career and artistry.

The talk will begin at 7.00pm with doors and the bar open from 6pm. Booking is essential for this unique opportunity hear a personal account of the creative world behind the scenes of some ground breaking fashion shows, highlighting the development of Alexander McQueen’s career.

“We are really looking forward to hosting this evening” say Wendy Barton of Ventnor Arts Club. “Our recent Fashion Week themed screenings proved very popular and I think this will be too. All are welcome but be sure to book”

Talk of approx one hour / film runtime 111 minutes.
