In this session award-winning teacher, ex school leader and globally celebrated advocate Shaun Dellenty will share practical, tried and tested whole school strategies for celebrating LGBT+ and intersectional diverse identities with the aim of making schools more welcoming, safe and successful for all stakeholders. Shaun will share learning from his acclaimed Bloomsbury Education book ‘Celebrating Difference- A Whole School Approach to LGBT+ Inclusion.’
Attendees will understand the importance of courageous leadership, strategic whole school vision and stakeholder buy in. They will also understand the importance of working with our human potential for prejudice from an early age in an intersectional way. They will also receive practical teaching tips, reflections and ideas.
Shaun Dellenty is an award- winning educator, ex school leader and intersectional inclusion advocate who experienced homophobic bullying as a teenager. In 2009 he founded the acclaimed diversity and inclusion strategy ‘Inclusion For All’ which he delivers around the UK and world. In 2020 he was included on the Guardian top twenty figures in public life ‘Global Diversity List’ and in 2021 bestowed with the Freedom of the City of London. His first book ‘Celebrating Difference-A Whole School Approach to LGBT+ Inclusion’ was published by Bloomsbury in 2019 and subsequently recommended in UK Parliament. He is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and member of the National Association of Headteachers.
