✨ I can’t wait to welcome you to our Dyslexia Awareness Week 2025 (DAW25) celebrations! From Oct 6–12, we’ll be shining a light on dyslexia and the power of raising our voices.
🎬 Join us on Thursday 23rd October 2025, 5:30pm onwards, at The Gleaners Cafe (TGC), 458 Hoe Street, E10 9AH for the WF Dyslexia Association Fundraiser & Awareness Evening. Our theme: “Raising the Volume.”
We’ll be screening Subnormal: A British Scandal, a powerful BBC documentary that exposes the shocking story of how Black children in the 1960s and 70s were wrongly labelled as “educationally subnormal” and sent to schools that denied them opportunity. It’s a film that sparks conversation, reflection, and change.
🍲 Alongside the film, enjoy freshly cooked vegan food and drinks in good company. It promises to be a night of community, awareness, and inspiration-one not to be missed!
✨Sandra Waldron Rigobert will introduce the WFDA and talk about How she has navigated being neurodivergent as a black female.
✨Counsellor Sharon Waldron (Mayor 2024/25) will say a few words about Waltham Forest Mayorship and fundraising.
👉 Save the date, bring a friend, and let’s raise the volume together. Space is limited so booking is required.
