A day of activities to celebrate and explore our local woodlands, and the health benefits they bring.

As part of the 3 Parish Woodland Celebration event Stocksbridge Parish council have teamed with Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust (SRWT) in creating a day of events all taking place in Stocksbridge.

Nature Walk 10:00 - 10:45 followed by optional refreshments at Inman Pavilion

Join the Wildlife Trust for an expert look at the plants and animals of Oxley Park woodland area and enjoy the health benefits of walking in nature. Booking not essental


Talk - The History of Lumberjills 11:30 - 12:30

Lumberjills were an important part of the Women's Land Army of WWII, with the contribution they made only coming to light in recent times.

Join Richard Godly in what will be a fascinating talk about the Lumberjills, and his work to uncover the stories of women who worked in this role in our local area.

There will be the opportunity for a Q&A session at the end of the talk with refreshments provided.

Community tree planting with Steel Valley Project 13:30 - 15:30

Help to plant an orchard at Oxley Park. An initiative of Steel Valey Project that will honor the areas history as a former fruit farm. A brief introduction of the project will be followed by tree planting.

Please note that booking for this event is essential due to limited numbers for tree planting - please feel free to attend to learn more about the project, ask questions and enjoy the refreshments!
