Event description

Description

Those in the know understand that caring for older people is the heart of nursing. In a world where the most successful care depends upon a collaborative approach involving multiple disciplines and agencies, it is nursing that has the numbers. Coupled with a focus on individuals, where the person is seen in every patient, using the best evidence base we have of comprehensive assessment there isn’t anywhere like older people’s services for nurses and nursing to shine. As well as caring, modern nursing requires scientific and technical knowledge and skills and nurses today need to carry social and political awareness too, not least because of the disparities of an ageing population and limited resources. This event aims to bring together people who know, really know, what good looks like at this moment in time so that nurses attending leave celebrating their knowledge base and skill set yet have fire in their belly for what they are going to do next.

Who should attend?

The event is for nurses working with older people, whether specialist, generalist or indeed working within other specialities and recognising that they too need to improve their awareness of older people and their specific needs. It is for educationalists, commissioners and those in clinical practice, in all settings including care homes and the independent social care sector.
