Description

Celebration of Law at Hertford with guest speaker Lord Pannick QC

We will be holding a panel talk given by Hertford alumni Lord Pannick (1974), Jack Williams (2013) and Professor Alison Young (1993) on 'The Gina Miller case in the Supreme Court and Parliament's role in Brexit' in the Oxford Martin School. This will be followed by a drinks reception and dinner in college.

Described as “one of the most important constitutional cases of modern times”, the Supreme Court Article 50 case ruled against the government, ensuring parliamentary voting to be required to start the process. Hertford alumni Lord Pannick and Jack Williams played a central role in this court case. During the talk, the keynote speakers will discuss the case and its implications with Hertford's Law Fellow, Professor Alison Young.

Timings and venues: 17.30 - 18.30, talk with Q&A in the Oxford Martin School, followed by drinks in OB Quad at 18.30 and dinner in Hall at 19.30. The college bar will be open afterwards.
