Description

At 1.30 p.m. on the final day of the William Shield Festival 2017 we are delighted to welcome back Gordon Dixon, cellist, whose performance in last year’s festival was a major success. Gordon, Chief Executive of the Avison Ensemble, will perform music by Schubert (the Arpeggione sonata) and also a new work based on a melody from Shield’s opera ‘Rosina’. The composer is noted local musician Steve Halsey. This will be a first performance. Gordon will be partnered by John Treherne who will perform Hummel’s Variations for piano of Shield’s song ‘The Ploughboy’
