Cemetery Club Presents: The Great & the Good of Hampstead Cemetery
Sat 24 June 2017, 13:00 – 14:30 BST
Just off Fortune Green in Camden lies a remarkable museum of people. Situated on a gentle hill with views of Windsor (if you climb a tree), Hampstead Cemetery holds the remains of some true icons and legends.
The Horn player who could play Mozart from memory whilst having a copy of Autocar magazine on his music stand. The man who saved a King and revolutionised antiseptic surgery. Eccentric, exiled members of the Russian aristocracy. The music hall star whose personal life was the talk of the town. In NW6, their lives may have long since ended but their stories shall live on.
Following on from the successor of our tour of Tower Hamlets Cemetery, join Sheldon and Sam from CemeteryClub.co.uk for a stroll amongst the stones to rediscover and learn about some of the amazing people that now call Hampstead Cemetery their permanent home.
Meet by the Entrance Lodge for a 1pm start. Nearest station - West Hampstead Thameslink, where you can catch either the 139 or the 328 bus - it's a five minute journey to the Cemetery.
