Fri 4 November 2016, 10:30 – 14:00 GMT
Communities Empowerment Network parents' and carers' forum:
Managing challenging behaviour to avoid exclusion
What is this forum about?
This forum will look at applied behaviour analysis (ABA) as a technique to manage challenging behaviour. This is a technique in which behaviour principles are applied to everyday situations. Its' aim is to increase and / or decrease targeted behaviours over a period of time. ABA is used to help children acquire language skills, self-help skills and play skills. The principles are also used to help decrease behaviours such as aggression, and self-injury. There will be an ABA expert to explain the science behind the technique and how it is used in practice.
