Censorship - Banning Books - They Know Better Than Us?
Event Information
Description
As part of the Everybody's Reading 2019 literature festival this event is a not overly serious look at what makes something worthy of banning, or not. From songs to books some people, organisations or countries try and stop other people from being faced with something that the censor doesn't like or agree with.
The author Darren Walker has had his first novel, Closing Shop, become the target of the wonderfully tolerant Westboro Baptist Church and this made him want to investigate if being the target censorship is always a bad thing.
Come along and enjoy a lighthearted laugh at the expense of others that probably wouldn't appreciate their biases being challenged. There might even be a few prizes for those that get into the spirit of things!
Tickets are free but there will be a collection on behalf of the Alzheimers Society.
