Centenary Celebration 2025

100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika

Luitporia Nasoni

Dr. Hazarika, fondly remembered as the “Sudhakantha” (The Bard of the Brahmaputra), was one of India’s most revered musicians, lyricists, poets, and visionaries. His compositions transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, promoting the values of humanity, peace, and unity through music. His legacy continues to inspire generations across Assam, India, and the world.

The event includes:

· Screening of “Bhupen Da Uncut” – a candid documentary capturing Dr. Hazarika’s life and philosophy.

· Live performances of his immortal songs by UK-based and visiting artistes.

· Poetry recitals, dance presentations, and talks reflecting his contribution to Assamese and Indian culture.

· Panel discussion on “Bhupen Hazarika’s Global Legacy: Music Beyond Borders.”

The centenary celebration would be a fitting tribute to Dr. Hazarika’s immense contribution

to Indian culture
