To kickstart the APPG on Inclusive Growth’s Commission on the Purpose of Finance, the CPP are launching groundbreaking research on pensions.

About this event

To kickstart the APPG on Inclusive Growth’s Commission on the Purpose of Finance, we are delighted to invite you to the launch of groundbreaking research by Centre for Progressive Policy on the public’s ambitions for their most important asset: their pension.

Britain now boasts a record 19.4 million people saving into a workplace pension thanks to the full rollout of auto-enrollment. And the sums that will build up in these accounts could be huge: up to half a trillion pounds of new equity investment.

But how should this money be invested? Can it be used to ‘level up’ Britain, or kickstart carbon cutting investments all over Britain? Some politicians hope so - but they might be disappointed.

Presenting new consumer research, CPP’s Ben Franklin and Norma Cohen take us through the real priorities people have for their savings - and what it means for investment, public policy and regulation around pensions for the auto-enrolled.

Helen Dean CBE and CEO of Nest Pensions will also respond to the research findings and discuss her broader thoughts on the purpose of finance in the context of said auto-enrolment.

The APPG will also use the event to set out a series of roundtables for September to launch its new Commission on the Purpose of Finance.

I thought you would also like to hear our new board has been elected and we are delighted to welcome John Penrose as new co-chair, and Alison Thewlis and Clive Efford as new vice-chairs to the Group.
