About this event

The Ceramics and Glass Group’s AGM will be held online via Zoom on September 12th 2020 at 2pm. All Icon members are welcome to attend free of charge. Places must be booked on Eventbrite by Friday Sept 11th, after which you will be sent a link to join the meeting. The Agenda and new Ceramics and Glass Group Management Regulations can be found on the group Resources page.

Following the AGM, Phil Jell has kindly agreed to give a talk about his work in mount making at the British Museum with a focus on ceramic and glass objects. Phil works at the British Museum as an Assistant Collections Manager in the Loans and Display team. He specialises in mountmaking for exhibitions and touring loans. Phil gives training sessions in mountmaking and the use of workshop machinery as part of the in-house training programme. His presentation will focus on the fabrication of display mounts for museum artefacts, and will look specifically at what kinds of considerations have to be taken into account for ceramic and glass objects.

Committee elections will take place during the AGM. The committee is currently accepting self-nominations for volunteer roles in the lead up to the AGM, descriptions of each can be found on the Committee page. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and contribute to the creation and running of events, training and networking opportunities for the Ceramics and Glass Conservation community. The Committee meets approximately four times each year on Saturdays, both online and in person, some work from home is required. Travel expenses for Committee meetings are refundable.

We are pleased to already have had interest for Student Representative and Publications but are still actively recruiting for Events Coordinator and an experienced conservator for Chair. Joining the committee is a good opportunity for professional development and a chance to build friendships with a fun and motivated team of like-minded conservators. The call for self-nominations closes on August 16th, for more information or to apply please send a 200 word statement to cgg@icon.org.uk.
