Event Details

(Conditional validation has been awarded by COSCA. Movement to initial validation expected at the beginning of September).

ACT Counselling Services is delighted to announce the commencement of the Certificate in Clinical Supervision course. The course has been written in response to demand from our own supervisees’ requests for ACT practitioners to pass on their extensive knowledge, skills and attitudes related to the practice of clinical supervision. All ACT practitioners are massively experienced and accredited psychotherapists. Furthermore, all hold qualifications in clinical supervision.

The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver clinical supervision within various models of supervision, and within these, from a variety of trans-theoretical approaches. The course will also address the complexities related to delivering clinical supervision within an organisational context. Lastly, tailoring the supervision provided to supervisees’ stages of development, will also be extensively addressed.

The course will be directed by Andy Gray. Andy has close to 20 years’ experience in the provision of supervision within social work, voluntary, private and hospital settings. He is a COSCA Practitioner Member (Accredited Other UK Professional Body), COSCA Accredited Diploma Level Trainer, BABCP Accredited CB Psychotherapist, BABCP Accredited Clinical Supervisor and BABCP Accredited Trainer.

This course should appeal to any qualified or accredited counsellors or psychotherapists considering beginning the provision of clinical supervision, or indeed, enhancing existing supervisory practice.

Structure of the Course
There will be 42 hours tutor delivery over the following time period; Tuesday evenings, from 6pm - 9pm on the following dates 06/02/18,  13/02/18, 20/02/18, 27/02/18, 06/03/18,  13/03/18,  20/03/18,  27/03/18, 03/04/18,  10/04/18,  17/04/18 and  24/04/18.

Two Group Supervision dates are arranged for participants whilst completing their Supervisory Practice Placement hours on Tuesday evening from 6pm - 9pm on 05/06/18 and 03/07/18.

Course participants must make arrangements for individual supervision for their supervisory practice; this is an integral part of the course. The supervision practice placement must be supervised by a qualified and experienced supervisor at a ratio of one hour of supervision for every six hours of placement practice. A minimum of 20 hours of supervisory practice must be completed in order to receive the certificate.

In the event of a participant requiring longer than three years for completion (e.g. difficulty accessing supervisees, life circumstances, and change in employment), a written essay of 4,000 words must be submitted along with the case study that evidences how they have continued to meet with the aims, learning outcomes and performance criteria outlined below:
