Event description

Description

In April 2018, Tierra Nueva Europe, in partnership with local communities, will be hosting a nine month training in 'Transformational Ministry at the Margins' in Bristol. The aim of the training is to gather, encourage, and further equip those serving in marginalised communities around the UK, and we hope it will particularly support and celebrate what God is doing in and around Bristol. You can read about the training here and will find dates for the Bristol training here.

The Certificate training has grown out of Bob and Gracie Ekblad's 35 years of ministering at the margins in Honduras and the US, particularly in prison contexts and with migrant workers. Both Presbyterian Ministers in Washington State, Bob is a much respected Old Testament theologian and Missiologist who has taught in the UK through Westminster Theological Centre since 2008. The Ekblad's are committed to bringing together serious study and teaching of Scripture (Word) with empowerment and gifts of the Holy Spirit (Spirit) and social justice, advocacy and reconciliation practices (Street). Word, Spirit and Street-oriented approaches are needed to see breakthrough in the most extreme places. You can read about the Ekblads here and about Tierra Nueva in the US here.

On 8th January, 2018, 7-9.30pm, there will be a Taster Evening hosted at Hope Chapel, Bristol, where Bob and Gracie will be joined by team and previous students to share about the Certificate training and offer a short interactive teaching session to give a taste of the content. There will be a short time of ministry at the end.

60 practitioners from around the UK have been through the training and you can read some of their testimonies here. As well as growing in confidence and learning new tools for use in their ministries, students have found themselves personally transformed by the training, encountering the presence of God in both new and familiar ways.

The doors will open at 7pm for tea and coffee and the first session will start at 7.30pm. The event is free but we ask that people register, to give us an idea of numbers and to allow us to send a follow up email on the back of the event.
