Carnesky's Finishing School, Soho is a cabaret venue, exhibition space and the only dedicated full time alt-cabaret school and event space in London (and possibly the world). Run by Carnesky Productions in conjunction with associate artist John Lee Bird and a well stocked bar courtesy of Bethnal Green Working Men's Club. Until January 2017, the school is resident in the basement of the old Foyles building, 6–12 Manette Street, W1D 4AT. We will be delivering a packed programme of workshops, lectures and performances during the school’s Soho residency.
Queens of the Underworld are an experimental performance-art & music collective; chthonic weavers of image and sound. Led by Oberon White and Laura Gwen Miles, QotU are a nebulous collection of artists working across disciplines and media. QotU’s performances combine original music, text, digital soundscapes, extended vocal techniques, and ritual. You can experience their work at clubs, cabaret spaces, theatres, galleries, and protests. QotU are inspired by a fecund mix of myth and ritual, queer culture, intersectional feminism, surrealism and activism. You can catch QotU at their esoteric cabaret and performance-art party: ZODIAC on the last Friday of each month at Cafe Cairo.
