Join our face-to-face engaging and practical workshop which focuses on equipping work-based mentors with the skills, tools, and confidence to guide and support colleagues effectively. This interactive training session will be held at our Wakefield Office. It will last approximately 3 hours and is designed to equip work-based mentors with the essential skills, tools, and confidence to support and guide mentees effectively in the workplace.
Participants will explore the core principles of mentoring, develop practical communication and feedback techniques, and learn how to foster a supportive and developmental mentoring relationship. The session combines theory with practical exercises to ensure mentors can apply their learning immediately in real-world contexts.
Event Agenda
• Understanding Mentoring: Definitions, roles, and boundaries of a mentor vs. coach or manager
• Core Skills of Effective Mentors: Active listening, questioning techniques, empathy, and building trust and the mentoring relationship
• Models and tools for mentoring and giving constructive feedback
• Managing Challenges in Mentoring Relationships: Handling difficult conversations, setting boundaries, and maintaining confidentiality
• Action Planning & Reflection: Personal mentoring action plan, peer discussion, and commitment setting
On-site parking is free although on a first come basis. The location is a short journey from Wakefield Train Station. Refreshments included although not lunch will be provided.
