Film buffs and music fans of all ages will delight in this evening of movie music hits, featuring:
Cambridge Graduate Orchestra returns to West Road after a triumphant La Boheme in November, to be conducted by film music expert Simon Nathan in its annual Cambridge Science Festival event.
At 7.15pm (doors open 6.45pm) in a free pre-concert talk, learn about the science and psychology behind cinema music, and why it appeals to such a wide audience.
Then at 8pm (doors open 7.45pm) the music will kick off in grand style with John Williams' Star Wars and Harry Potter. Enjoy the action in a medley of James Bond themes, the suspense of Bernard Herrmann's music for Vertigo and the romance of Maurice Jarre's theme for Lawrence of Arabia.
Please note that there are separate tickets for the pre-concert talk, so that you can choose to attend the talk, the concert or both. If you're booking tickets for the concert, remember to add pre-concert talk tickets to your order if you would like to come to the talk as well!
Cambridge Graduate Orchestra was founded in 2004 and is one of the city's foremost amateur orchestras, giving four concerts a year at West Road Concert Hall. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter where you can find videos, trivia and updates in the run-up to the concert!
