Sat 11 March 2017, 20:00 – 22:00 GMT
Pre-concert talk by Irish Moeller at 7.15
Conductor: Benedict Collins-Rice
Mezzo-soprano: Chloe Allison
The Cambridge Graduate Orchestra invites you to admire the beauty of musical British seascapes and to reflect on nature and music’s beauty this concert season. Benedict Collins-Rice will be at the helm of the CGO ship this term, performing for the first time an overture by Cambridge-based composer David Roche, written especially for this night. The orchestra will then accompany mezzo-soprano Chloe Allison in the exploration of the delicate five-movement suite of Elgar's Sea Pictures and conclude this wondrous night of British seascape discovery with Britten's Sea Interludes.
As part of the Cambridge Science Festival, the pre-concert talk, will provide a thoughtful start to the evening, reflecting on themes to be picked up on further during the concert.
