About the workshop: you will need some loose comfy clothing and an upright dining style chair. If your floor is wood or laminate you will need your chair on a mat to prevent any possibility of sliding. A yoga mat isn’t necessary. If you haven’t got a handy rug, a bath towel will do the trick. You will need room to stretch your arms out to the sides.
The session will be gentle but offer some challenge to give you an idea of what is involved in building strength, flexibility, better balance, efficient breathing and a great feeling of well-being. The aim is to feel invigorated and positive about pursuing a yoga practice. You will not be required to lie on the floor or try standing poses in this session.
About the presenter: Jenny has practised yoga since her 20s on and off, and tried many different styles. The Chair Yoga she teaches is based on adapted Iyengar yoga using props to aid members. Yoga is always practised at the individual’s level, there are no requirements for a ‘perfect’ pose. She gives varied instructions so the more able feel challenged. She emphasises building muscle tone and strength, flexibility especially of the spine, better balance, efficient breathing and having some fun so that the whole body and mind are stretched, energised and rejuvenated. For Jenny Yoga is always a work in progress, there’s no end goal, just an amazing journey and as a teacher, she is there to encourage.
