How to chair meetings effectively

About this Event

Chairing Committee and other meetings effectively

A well-run Committee can be a powerful tool for generating new ideas, scrutinising executive actions and ensuring sound governance within an organisation.  However, all too often, Committee meetings can be less than productive and indeed in some cases they can be dull, pointless and soul-destroying experiences.

In this short interactive session, we examine the critical factors that will determine whether or not a meeting will be successful, focusing on the role of the Chair.

Who is this course for?

This workshop is relevant to all current and prospective Chairs and Vice Chairs.  It will also be of interest to managers who chair meetings on a regular basis and Board/Committee members with an interest in good governance and running meetings effectively.

It would also be relevant to clerks/secretaries and other officials who service Boards, Committees and/or senior management teams.

How is this course delivered?

The workshop is delivered by a mix of Powerpoint presentation and case studies/group discussion. Slides are used by the facilitator to set out best practice but most of the workshop involves consideration of real life case studies and facilitated discussion of practical issues that affect Committees and Committee Chairs.
