Speaker:
Professor John Hills, London School of Economics

A light lunch will be served from 12:00

Location:
Social Market Foundation
11 Tufton Street, London, SW1P 3QB

Contemporary political debate in Britain appears sold on the idea that there is a clear division between a large permanently ‘welfare-dependent’ group and the rest of the population who pay taxes to support it. It’s skivers vs strivers – or those with the curtains drawn in mid-morning against ‘alarm clock Britain’.

At our next Chalk + Talk, Professor John Mills of the London School of Economics will contest this view by presenting extensive new evidence on the dynamics of people’s lives; from the rapid week-to-week changes in many people’s incomes, even those in work; through to the life cycle changes experienced by most of the population.

Chalk + Talk is the SMF’s popular lunchtime seminar series, run in partnership with the ESRC. To register for this event please click on the Eventbrite button below.

This event series is kindly supported by the Economic and Social Research Council.
