Challenges in MedTech Innovation - A product designer’s viewpoint

Join us at this joint Department of Engineering/Medical Sciences Division Lunch seminar to hear The University’s product design ‘Expert in Residence’ Patrick Hall who is a consultant with long experience of developing clever innovations into commercial products.
This Lunch Seminar is a taster session for a full day session planned for May. If you are interested in innovation and being a entrepreneur - taking your ideas to the first stages or commercialisation then this taster seminar is for you.
Patrick will talk about some of the challenges, including;
- managing technical risk
- pitfalls of project management
Patrick joined Maddison in 2010, and has a mixed role covering business development, project management and technical consulting. He has 20 years’ experience in product development as a design engineer and project manager working in companies including IDEO and P&G. He has worked in a broad range of industries including medical devices, life sciences, FMCG, business electronics and industrial products. He has a deep understanding of how products are transformed from ideas into reality and how to limit technical risks. He acts as a panel member on University innovation clinics and often speaks at conferences and exhibitions on subjects such as optimising development strategies and user focused design. He is actively involved in many projects including point-of-care diagnostics, medical imaging and wearable sensors.
