It is crucial that we as leaders understand mental illness and how we can support our employees. Mental illness is still considered a taboo in many workplaces, however statistics show that 1 in 4 people will be affected in their lifetime.

We at Executive Network Group believe that change starts from the top, so we are very excited to be able to offer leaders in Safety, HR and Procurement, from a variety of organisations, the opportunity to gather and discuss this pressing issue, and collate ideas and inspiration that they can take back into their companies. It is hugely important that senior professionals are open to talking about this issue and subsequently breaking down the taboo’s around mental illness.

In order to facilitate this discussion, we have put together an evening of inspirational speakers – with all profits going to the Rethink charity. Speakers are as followed:

Martin Coyd: Head of HSE at Mace (Top Construction Company)

  • Does a lot of work with Mates in Mind which is a mental health charity for the construction industry

  • Mental health first aid trainer

  • Stonewall Champion and was named in the Financial Times OUTstanding Global Top 30 LGBT Executive Allies list

  • Martin was named in the SHP 2017 list of the 15 Most Influential in Health and Safety

  • Martin was awarded the OBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours List


Dave Lee: CEO of a Deeper Understanding

  • Ex construction worker who spent most of his life struggling with mental illness before turning his life around with his own method

  • Author of: Hairy Arsed Builder’s Guide to Stress Management

  • Motivational speaker for mental health



James Fletcher:Head of Corporate Partners at Rethink Mental Illness

  • James has worked since 2015, supporting partnerships with organisations such as ITN, Virgin Trains, and the Telegraph which aim both to raise funds and build understanding of mental health in the workplace and more broadly.
