About this event
Do you often deliver potentially distressing news to patients, their families or colleagues?
- Do these conversations take an emotional toll on you?
- Would you like to feel more prepared for the strong reactions these conversations can evoke?
Then this workshop is for you!
As healthcare professionals, we frequently deliver significant and potentially distressing information. The way we communicate this information can greatly influence how it is received and processed.
Join our half-day workshop where we will cover essential skills and strategies for handling challenging conversations. This workshop aims to boost your confidence in supporting patients and their families, helping them process and absorb the information, feel supported, and actively participate in decisions about their treatment and care.
What will you learn
- Explore what makes conversations challenging and recognize what constitutes "bad news."
- Discuss the myth of "denial."
- Apply skills and principles within a consultation structure (SPIKES Plus).
- Develop strategies for handling strong emotions.
Suitable for
This workshop is ideal for any health or social care professional whose role may involve giving potentially distressing information.
Cost: £165.00
