Event description

Description

What is emotional health? Why does it matter? What do we need to address the challenges of poor emotional health? What are the costs of not addressing these challenges?

This symposium will examine how we can build adult capabilities to enhance childhood experiences and improve child outcomes, taking a universal, assets based, public health approach. We will include examples of work in different settings, including case studies on:

  • parents with a learning disability in Ayrshire

  • parents in prison

  • parents involved with social care and/or fostering and adoption services

  • work in schools and early years settings

Family Links Nurturing Programme develops the emotional health skills of all individuals at home, at school and at work, so that a healthy relational culture can become everyone’s lived experience. Our work is based on a cognitive-relational model which has been delivered, developed and evaluated over twenty-one years.
